How IELTS Listening module works

How long does IELTS listening module take?

In total you have 40 minutes , first 30 minutes to listen and once recording finishes you get 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.

How many and what type question does IELTS listening module have?

There are 40 questions and you have 60 minutes. You may find variety of question types used like multiple choice, matching, plan, diagram, labeling, form completion, note completion, table completion, flow-chart completion, summary completion, sentence completion, short answer question.

How many parts,  speakers in each section and what skills they check?

In Section 1there is a dialogue between two people related to everyday social or about education.
For example: a conversation in library, university reception or accommodation agency. you are assessed to what extend you pick general information like names, numbers, dates or time etc.

In Section 2 : It is a monologue  related to everyday social or education talking about arrangements or it may be explaining facilities. It assess how good your listening power is by checking your understanding of general and specific information when you listen to somebody describing any facilities or two people having a conversation.

In Section 3 : Here is a conversation which may involve up to four people. It is related to educational or training context like a student discussing an assignment or a group of students planning a research project. in third section they check how good you are in picking main ideas and if you can follow discussion, recognize opinions, attitudes and purpose of a speakers

In Section 4 : It is again a monologue as in section 2 , it is based on university subject like  a university lecture. here they check how good you are at following the development of an argument and rec0gonise opinion and understand lecture.

How does listening module marking work?

Coming with each correct answer you will receive 1 mark  and then scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9 band scale. Scores are reported in whole and half band.

    Q1. if spelling is little bit wrong just say i write say AC9E6 instead of AC936 so it would be considered whole wrong totally.
    Q2. and what about plurals and singulars markings?
    if i write say chocolates instead of chocolate then that would be also considered wrong too.
