7 band essay from my student
In the last 20 years there have been significant developments in the field of information technology(IT), for example, the world wide web and communication by email. However, these developments in IT are likely to have more negative effects than positive in the future.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
With advent of 21 century, technology has leaped to a level that was unimaginable only a decade ago. This dramatic progress means that many aspects of our lives have changed considerably in both positive and negative ways. In this essay, i will analyze both sides of an argument and then present a reasonable conclusion.
The increased use of IT such as worldwide web and emails have many beneficial effects: Firstly, businesses can opt IT services like web to reach and target massive audience. This will enable them to leverage their transaction not only to national but also to international clients. Secondly, communication via email and other means like Skype provides opportunities for teachers and students interactions. To take an example, it has now become convenient to study from a teacher who is in different country. In addition to this, it has now become common for families and friends to interact with each other by using emails, Skype and other social networking sites as a medium for communication.
Despite several advantages, there are many plausible counters to this argument one. Undoubtedly, many businesses do benefit from expanding their customers base base through IT services. But the fact that these business’ adverts which are bombarded on internet compels users to unnecessarily purchase goods and services which cannot be ignored. Hence, for a compulsive shopper there is a good reason to splurge. Next, comes the social aspect. It is true that communication with family and peer was never easy in the past as it is today. However, these online interactions are a fake substitute for real life presence. As it is commonly observed youngsters nowadays neglect their immediate family presence for the sake of fake and unnatural relationships formed online via social networks.
To conclude, there are pros and cons in both side of an argument. So, in my opinion, we should embrace technology as its a precursor for our future success. But, we should draw line as to keep away from its detrimental impacts.
